Hemp Textiles

Hemp fiber has superior qualities that can be blended with anything from tencel to organic cotton. It can be used to create unique textiles such as terrycloth, flannel and luxurious satin brocades. Hemp fiber offers greater durability and breathability than cotton and is more absorbent and insulative.

Hemp is an extremely fast growing crop, producing more fiber per yield of acre than any other source. Compared to cotton, which uses about 25% of the world’s crop pesticides, hemp can be grown without the need of harmful herbicides and pesticides and does not require irrigation. Hemp fiber is antibacterial and provides Ultra Violet (UV) protection from the sun.

Durable
Hemp fiber is one of the strongest and most durable of all natural textile fibers while holding its shape, stretching less than any other natural fiber. These properties allow hemp garments and textiles from stretching out or becoming distorted with use while also lasting a lifetime.
Antibacterial
Hemp fiber contains compounds that have been shown to have the ability to kill surface bacteria including MRSA, an antibiotic resistant strain of staph and a leading cause of hospital-borne infections.
UV Protection
Hemp fabric offers natural protection from the sun’s rays with an UV Factor of SPF 15. Certain hemp fabrics have been tested and certified with a UV Factor of UPF 50 , the maximum UV protection rating given.
